偏振分光平片将入射光中的S偏振光和P偏振光分开。常用的设计角度45°和56°，有效实现偏振光的分离。第一面镀介质膜，第二面不镀膜的方式，优化了光的透射和反射效果，同时保持高损伤阈值，基底采用紫外熔石英适合高功率应用。
