The quartz multiple-order waveplate is made of a single quartz crystal, which produces multiple levels of phase delay. The thickness is generally around 0.5mm. Compared to zero order waveplates, the effective wavelength bandwidth is narrower and can only be used for light sources with good monochromaticity. The temperature stability is not as good as zero order waveplates, and the delay accuracy is slightly worse than zero order waveplates, but it has good mechanical strength and a higher laser damage threshold.
